The History of ATET

The Abel Tasman Educational Trust is a Charitable Trust which has been running since 1988. Originally ATET was set up to provide increased training opportunities for our community and 30 years later education and training remains to be at the core of our services.
Over the years ATET has evolved covering services such as; Youth Mentoring, Youth Transition Services. Training for Work, Foundation Focused Training Opportunities, Youth Guarantee, Youth Development and Alternative Education among others.
Set on our campus in Riwaka, we have been registered with New Zealand Qualifications Authority since 1992 as a Private Training Establishment and offer accredited training at levels one, two and three.

We are run by a Board of Trustees and a team of dedicated staff. The Trustees volunteer their time and offer support and expertise to help the Trust run effectively. Our staff team all believe strongly in the values of making a difference in people’s lives.

ATET staff are actively involved in fostering strong community networks and our focus is on developing links with employers and industries that facilitate pathways to employment for our students.
